Moore’s Garden is family-owned and operated, involving three generations. Our grandchildren have embraced the entrepreneurial spirit with zest and always grow their own special contributions to sell at market.
The philosophy at Moore's Garden is organic and sustainable. We have owned the land for eighteen years and have never used chemicals such as herbicides or pesticides.
Our chickens are fed corn, wheat, and all the bugs they can eat – not chickenfeed with antibiotics and hormones. They roam the five acres of our market garden, and the result is so beneficial for pest control and fertilization that we do not begrudge the occasional nip of the peppers. Our favorite quote: "A chicken that has never chased and caught a bug is an unfulfilled chicken."
Instead of carrying a full range of vegetables, we like to provide our customers with a cornucopia of choices in our specialty vegetables, herbs, and fruit. This year we are growing over 100 varieties of peppers, a dozen varieties of heirloom tomatoes, 8 varieties of beans, 20 varieties of cherry tomatoes, 18 varieties of winter squash, and 20 varieties of zucchini/summer squash. Each year we experiment with new veggies, especially in heirloom tomatoes and peppers. We also offer sampler mixes of baby summer squash, sweet pepper mixes containing up to 20 varieties of colorful bell and non-bell peppers, and our unforgettable Spectacular Salsa Mix containing dozens of varieties of hot peppers. We also provide our favorite recipes for various products.
We look forward to seeing you Saturdays at the Adrian Farmers Market! Hours are 8:00 am to noon, off Toledo St. east of N.Main Street, in the parking lot by the Pharm. Wednesday hours are 10 – 4 pm.
